Impressions of Madeira archipelago

just a quick stop on the way to Porto da Cruz using the old road ER 108; around 600 m above sea level, close to Ribeira de Machico.
a nice colourful tree
close to Pico de Areiro ( if I remember right)
my boys 😁
another beautiful …
spectacular…
view
quay Porto da Cruz
Luis and me
some interesting wickerwork in …
the famous factory of Camacha with strange sitting woman in basket sled
the only highway of Madeira leads its way underneath the impressive stalks of the landing strip of Funchal airport
sailing to Porto Santo
walking at the beach of Porto Santo and…
having a break at a sweet beach bar
almost at the end of porto Santo beach at low tide
sitting at the porch of the spectacular Columbus museum
at the anchorage Baía d’Abra close to Marina Quinta do Lorde
the boys did a walk taking a steep track up to the ridge and took some pics from the contrasting …
views of the north side
a part of the trail
an ancient animal
Ilhas Deserta Grande, at the scenic anchorage Carga da Lapa, looking south
now looking north
ashore at the little path in the background Altimate
one can still see the landslip; it sadly blocked the track which led to the plateau 400 meters above; and in front the house of the rangers
two concentrated players trying not to loose😉
a church in Funchal
the famous market Mercado dos Lavradores
with many colourful spices
and sometimes unusual fruits
amazing pavement
and interesting beverage offer 😂 ( for the non german speakers ” Kühlschränke” means fridges 😉)
a gaze inside a non used house
Funchal bench
square at Funchal
with small alleys
a trip to Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque little harbour
and big minions
posing family
a fluke as an antenna mount, which reminded me somehow of a small longhorn 😁
a sleepy lazy dog
looking down on Cámara de Lobos
further west at Ponta do Sol
at the coast
with different fauna
and a very special menu in a sweet bar at Ponta do Sol
and some cute kittens
the cable car at Monte – like being in the alps
on our way to the tropical garden in Monte
with beautiful old lanes
now in the tropical garden
with huge big ferns
and mossy benches
lovely flowers
tropical trees
fancy sculptures
what is wrong here?
Luis
and me waiting to see a basket sled
dancing in the garden
what’s he laughing about?
the sleds in black and white
a sledge fun run
our last day together was a bit cloudy but still stunning, we headed off to Santana to the north side of the island
the typical little houses from Santana
another short cable car down to the beach at Santana
view from top of the cable
and one of the million waterfalls
the boys exhausted waiting for food in a restaurant up in the mountain; it did look like a frame house from the alps
some sailing impressions
Luis’ plane leaving 😥 👋
