Sabine has been sailing her whole life, starting as a kid with her dad. And she got me infected with this wonderful virus by skippering our first charter trip around the Kornati islands (Croatia) with our kids and some friends in 2003.

I obtained as well the necessary licenses and since then we have been building up our experience by doing plenty of bareboat charters in various places of the world, such as Greece, Turkey and the Caribbean islands. Alternating in being the “skipper of the day” gave us both the confidence of handling the yacht and working as a team.

And still a lot to learn……

For us sailing is the best way of exploring new countries, meeting new people and enjoying the sea, so we decided to get our own boat.  Beginning of 2016 we did find Altimate in Dartmouth at the British channel coast. Our first trip was in 2 weeks from Dartmouth (UK) to Lelystadt (Netherlands) to get Altimate close to our German hometown.

On a short notice we moved to the US in the 2nd half of 2016. In Summer 2017 we sailed Altimate from the Netherlands to Bourgenay at the French Atlantic Coast, where we put her on the hard.

After our return from Austin Texas in September 2018, we made Altimate our home and we started our adventure.
