Impressions Mérida

The feature pic shows cute little Luciana with her grandma Eva.

here I was sitting in the luxury bus going to Mérida, accidentally I had booked a platino class ticket, luxury pure
there were only 8 passengers in that bus, my guess it could accommodate at least 50 people
the two of us at Eva’s house
the only pic I had taken of the Panucho
Lucina was so so cute, and I was impressed that she didn’t complain me holding her
the young family with cute baby Luciana
the poor looking door of Micheline’s house
the amazing interior courtyard
a closer look
one of the beautiful rooms
this was the old bed of Micheline’s Grandma, the room was not yet ready
0ne of the bathrooms also in progress of renovation – I think, the tiles were still the original first one
this was another outside area, it does look a bit scrappy on the pic but it was an another amazing space for parties or whatever
another bathroom with beautiful old tiles
an old singer sewing machine, behind the machine one can see the walls which Micheline had already brought back to her original style, if I remember correcto

Some pics of Mérida

the courtyard of‎⁨ Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán⁩
Eva the door girl
Eva explained : on women’s day March 8th, women use this day to march for their rights, demanding justice for femicides, sexual abuse, assaults, disappearances which the government does not address nor does anything to solve the cases; the marches were usually peaceful, women simply asking to be heard, but when nothing was done and the abuse of women continued without any consequences for men, some protesters began to paint walls and destroy things; that was the reason of that painted wall above
Tercera Orden, built in 1618 for Jesuit priests

More pics of the city

here we had a look at the “Palacio de Gobierno” which was completed in 1892 and is an important piece of Mérida’s history; a government office, which also acts as a museum and shows local artifacts like murals and oil paintings, I can’t recall exactly but the mural was about the conquest of the Mayan people
Plaza de la Indepedencia looking at the town hall
of course the plaza had a lot of touristy things , but I kinda liked those venylbags
because Eva was not a tourist the nice lady made us fresh churros
a courtyard at a nice restaurant close to downtown
every house seemed to have beautiful tiles
here we had met up shortly with Eva’s second daughter Kitty
a typical Yucatan dish mix Eva explained: from left bottom, Cocinita pibil, Poc chuc, Longanizada asada , Frijol colado in the bowl, Panucho just left above the bowl and Quesadilla in the left upper corner
