Last two weeks in Cienfuegos
After mounting the heat exchanger and checking that it worked we were happy to explore areas of Cienfuegos where we hadn’t been yet. We also invited Marc, Anette, Gisela and Barbaro to see how we live when we were back docked at the marina for the engine repair. Cuban government didn’t allow locals on the boat – not even at the marina. It was very embarrasing for all of us. The port captain Yoa, a very nice guy was embarrassed as he had to tell us that it was not allowed to have Gisela and Barbaro onboard. Not even for 10 min. They had to wait at the marina bar while Marc and Anette were having a quick look. All of the locals were so scared of “local spies” that they didn’t dare to turn a blind eye. Such a broken system! After seeing Altimate we all went out to a restaurant for dinner.
the engine without the old heat exchangerhere I was strongly helping El Capitano to dismantle the old heat exchanger; I was making sure that the new one stayed in his travel box until it would get mountedwe walked to the opposite site of headland Punta Gorda to Laguna del Curapassed some old housesthat was a strange work of art -well at least for me- it was called ” maternity”. I couldn’t find any connection.we passed by a big playground fair but it seemed closed for goodwe used to have a car like that when I was kid – only it was redthere was even a little beach on that side, not too exciting but at leasta restaurant just next to the entrancethe view of the other side of the beach sunset between the pretty mansionspeople queuing for a jam session at Club Cienfuegostypical transportation Marc and Anette were visiting us on Altimate when we were in the marina for the mounting of the enginea motorised bicycle – kind of cool with an old plastic water bottle as a tankfinally we were visiting the famous “Teatro Tomás Terry”the majestic Teatro Tomás Terry was considered the principal theatre of Cienfuegos, an elegant theatre located at Parque Martíaccording to Cuban Travel Agency: “the majesty of the Teatro Tomás Terry is based on Italian style, both inside and out, characterized mainly by its horseshoe-shapedhall. Its interior consists of an auditorium decorated with marble and hand-carved parquet, in addition to 950 seats available”maybe that was Tomás Terry?
