Impressions of Long Island and Conception Island

We had a beautiful sail up to Long Island and ashore we stopped at a small bar and had our first Bahamian beer.

it was a great sailing day in absolute perfect conditions

having a beer just at the right time of the day
the small village provided even a marina shop, that was very convenient as our water filter happened to have a leak; surprisingly this chandler provided a spare for us
Long Island- long road
a relict of the past
we were hoping to find an opportunity todo some laundry, but…nothing
we walked over to the so called “Ocean side” and found this toilet outside of a house trying to be a nice place for plants
then these two dogs came running and jumping out of the property of the house; two strong fellows fortunately very friendly
they seemed to like us as they followed us for about an hour, they loved the beach and the water
he loved playing in the sand
here we arrived to have a burger
a pretty beach bar with a decent burger
a small bar with cool people
and a nice view
just before it got completely dark we headed back to Altimate

A short stop at Calabash Bay/Long Island

Conception Island

we had a short walk to the other side
another beautiful beach
a palm tree!!!! though no coconuts
I did some dancing at the beach…. but why?
this guy made me being uncomfortable staying in the water, a lemon shark which stayed around Altimate for two days
and a very reddish sunset
turning yellow
and here even pinkish – I did not use any filters
the colours were just amazing
the mangrove lagoon with super clear water
the dark spots were turtles
see birds nesting
a day later we walked a long way
passing ponds
other beaches
dense trees
crawling white shells
pretty blossoms
this guy made it all the way up a tree, he got my respect; btw he was actually using a whelk shell
don´t know what kind of bird that was, but it was singing a lot for us
aren´t the colours amazing?
