our last night in Las Palmas, being very excited to leave the next day, we were dancing at Las Canteras beach
the last walk to get some bread in the morning of the 20.01.21
a beautiful last morning
our dear friend Carlos, who was our neighbour already during the lockdown in Las Palmas , came over to the gas station to say goodbye and helped us deflating our bumpers and with the lines
leaving the marina
Carlos made some pics for us, THANK YOU CARLOS!
Mary and her daughter India waving goodbye, it’s hard to see, but if you watch closely you find them next to the pole K9
last view of Las Palmas
passing some anchored boats…
while leaving Gran Canary Island
still motoring (and very concentrated checking the last messages before the internet is fading away) to catch the wind outside of the Island
the first sunset of the crossing

this zucchini only survived one day, maybe it wanted to be a microphone ?
another sunset this time out of a window
a boat on ais, it looks pretty close, but it was 10nm away; we couldn’t see it
trying to find out where the annoying noise came from…
one of the few boats we actually saw on our crossing
still a loooooong way to go
our first poor flying fish who stranded on Altimate at night
evening light
our daily fever measuring time

more flying fish
deeply asleep and trying not to fall of the bench
some dinner is waiting to be eaten
port side sailing
the second MahiMahi, still fighting
we always put a wet towel on top of there eyes that calms the fish down a little and it is easier for us to kill them (just in case somebody is wondering why there is always a towel in the pics…)
the distance is shortening and the water temperature is rising
our repaired wind vane, the pros might recognise the difference; the yellow colour in the water is the seaweed
the wind vane steering lines are now fixed at the handles of Altimate’s back hand rail
the sargassum seaweed floating in the water

sail is now back on starboard side
a rainbow after a squall
a very little flying fish already very dry
seaweed catching our lure
a sleeping Capitano
a squall coming to catch us
some clouds
a big wave which looks just like water
enjoying the warmth
some birds visiting us
one of the barracudas which we released again
passing the northern part of Grenada, between London bridge and Caille Island
sailing down the west side of Grenada to reach St. George’s
finally at the quarantine anchorage of St. George’s

our first ride ashore after 3 weeks at sea, passing an abandonment trimaran
St. George’s
heading into the marina area
yeah almost there
the poshy but very pretty Port Louis Marina, we had to go to the other side to do our test
the covid test tent
customs is in the house in the middle with the red roof
heading back to the boat after our test
to the anchorage
